Retired Dothan Police Captain Passes Away

DOTHAN:      We are sad to announce that retired Dothan Police Captain Larry Draughon has passed away.


Draughon served 33 years and 5 months with the Dothan Police Department. He retired on October 1, 2010.


The time of the funeral has not been set but we understand it will be sometime on Monday.


Draughon rose through the ranks of Dothan Police from patrolman to Captain. Draughon served as Acting Dothan Police Chief during an interiem time that Dothan did not have a police chief.


Captain Draughon had diabetes that affected his health and caused him to retire.


Captain Draughon was a friend to many. He was a dedicated police officer serving the citizens and guests of Dothan well.
