DOTHAN, Ala.– The Alabama Department of Transportation is unable to accept the bid submitted at approximately $20 million over the estimated cost for the Ross Clark Circle expansion project.
The project includes improvements along Ross Clark Circle from Bauman Drive to U.S. Highway 231 North and U.S. Highway 84 from Bel Aire Drive to North Englewood Avenue.
ALDOT remains committed to addressing the need for improved traffic flow and safety along the corridors in the proposed project. “We expect to complete the project in full,” stated Steve Graben, Southeast Region Engineer, “we just need a little more time.”
The Department is working with state and local officials while evaluating alternative approaches, including dividing the project into smaller, separate phases.
ALDOT’s mission is to provide a safe, efficient, environmentally and economically sound transportation network across Alabama.
