DOTHAN:    National Peanut Festival President Jason Rudd and NPF Security and Safety Chairman Scott Palmer held the security and safety briefing this afternoon.

In the headquarters of the National Peanut Festival in a standing room only members of emergency agencies to include Dothan Police Department, Houston County Sheriff Department, Dothan Fire Department, Pilcher Ambulance, Dothan - Houston County Emergency Management Agency, volunteers and others, Rudd and Palmer went over the operations plans.

The owner of the fair rides and his staff was also present. "What if" situations were discussed for various scenarios. Discussions about plans for lost children and how those would be managed.

Following the verbal presentations those responsible for the safety and security did a ride though the entire fairgrounds for a view and discussion of plans. Making sure all that attend would be safe and in a secure environment.

That National Peanut Festival Fair opens tomorrow evening. The fair sits on 200 acres with 80 acres of parking. The south lot off Festival Drive is now paved for the safety and convience of those who attend.

Last year more than 180,000 people came through the gate.

In a unprecidented trend, Jason Rudd has led the National Peanut Festival for three years in a row as President. In a strictly volunteer position as President, Rudd began his tenure with devestating rain. Rudd and Team Peanut put together a plan and made that plan work for the wirgrass to enjoy the Peanut Festival.

Team Peanut saw the value of Rudd as President and has given him three years in a row. Last year NPF saw the sudden loss of Greg Yost who passed away. One who managed the fair grounds with great pride, knowledge and expertise.

NATIONAL PEANUT FESTIVAL is ready for kick off tomorrow night.
