SAN ELIZARIO, Texas Sheriff's deputy critically injured after being shot in the head overnight

SAN ELIZARIO, Texas - The El Paso County Sheriff's Office identified the deputy shot Friday morning as Deputy Herrera. The deputy's first name was not included in a news release regarding a blood drive.


The blood drive for the wounded deputy will be at the sheriff's office headquarters in between 12:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m Friday. The location is 3850 Justice in Far East El Paso County. 


A man and a woman are in custody after an El Paso County Sheriff's Deputy was shot multiple times early Friday morning.


The male deputy was conducting a routine traffic stop for a light violation in San Elizario at the intersection of Chicken Ranch Road and Socorro Road.
