Saturday Structure Fire Reported At Paws Only

HOUSTON COUNTY:   Saturday at 5:01 PM Houston County Sheriff 911 dispatched emergency units to 7414 West Main Street, Paws Only, to reports of a structure fire.

Reported to the 911 Center and dispatched to VOLUNTEER FIRE and law enforcement, "structure fire, smoke visible, unable to evacuate all of the animals at this time".

Wicksburg Fire - Rescue responded, Houston County Sheriff Deputy Rumble, Alabama State Trooper Norman, DothaN - Houston County Emergency Management Director Chris Judah responded.

On the arrival of the first Wicksburg Volunteer Fireman, Baxter Etheredge, he reported "no smoke visible". As other volunteer fireman arrived it was checked and there was no fire but only an electrical smell.

Wiregrass Electric Co-Op was dispatched as fireman were responding. The utilies are "first responders" and always responsive to the call.

It was determined the fire was something from the air conditioner. The air condition company was also on the scene to repair the air conditioner unit.

The response from the Wicksburg VOLUNTEER FIRE - RESCUE, most of which roll on their own vehicle, Houston County Sheriff Deputy, Dothan - Houston County Emergency Management, and Alabama State Trooper Norman responded in the event it was an actual structure fire to make sure the animals would be rescued.

The communications division dispatches to responding units what "is reported". And the report was "smoke visible and unable to evacuate all of the animals".

THANKS to all of the responding units, most especially to the VOLUNTEER FIRE - RESCUE who GIVE of their time, vehicle use, gas, wear and tear on their personal possessions, in order to serve and protect their community.

While this was evident of the VOLUNTEER FIRE - RESCUE devotion in this call. It was evident recently when lumber was thrown all over the roadway on Highway 84 East. The VOLUNTEER FIRE - RESCUE members of Pansey Volunteer Fire, Gordon Volunteer Fire and Lucy Volunteer Fire as was Dothan - Houston County Emergency Management responded and board by board loaded and stacked a semi truck of boards that were thrown all over the road.
