DOTHAN:  August 17, 2017 - The Wiregrass Museum of Art (WMA) is pleased to announce the return of its seasonal public film series, Screen on the Green, on Friday, September 1, with a presentation of Steven Spielberg's "E.T."  The movie will be shown in the museum's garden at 7:30 p.m., and admission is free.

The public is invited to bring lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy the evening outside. Local food trucks will be on hand to satisfy movie-watching cravings, and the museum will provide free popcorn.

WMA's galleries will be open beginning at 6 p.m. so moviegoers can take in exhibitions currently on display, including Butch Anthony's "Museum of Wonder" and Mark Leputa's "Full Circle: A Decade in the Deep South."

Screen on the Green will continue on the first Friday of the month this fall with screenings of Kenny Ortega's "
Hocus Pocus" on October 6, Steven Spielberg's "Raiders of the Lost Ark" on November 3, and Jon Favreau's "Elf" on December 1. In case of inclement weather, movies will be show in the Great Hall of WMA's Conference Center.

Screen on the Green began in the spring of 2016 as a partnership with the Dothan Downtown Redevelopment Authority, with the first series of films taking place at the common green space on North Foster Street. The series moved to WMA's garden in the fall of 2016, offering attendees a chance to visit the museum's galleries before the screening of the films.
