Sex offender Jailed on Pornography Charges, has Felony Record of Sodomizing Children

A convicted sex offender is jailed after state investigators found multiple child pornography videos and photos in his possession, authorities said.
Joseph Scott Bennefield, a 32-year-old living in an Athens motel, was arrested by investigators from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, records show. Bennefield is held in the Limestone County Jail with bail set at $50,000.
When state law enforcement served a search warrant at Bennefield's room at the Town and Country Motel on U.S. 31 in Athens, they found videos and other pornographic images of children between the ages of 4 and 8, according to court documents.
Bennefield was charged with five counts of possession of child pornography, but state investigator Kathy Stewart wrote in court records that more charges are pending.
