DOTHAN:    Tonight Houston County Sheriff Donald Valenza, Dothan - Houston County Emergency Management Director Chris Judah, and Houston County Sheriff Deputy Timmy Ward meet with a group of leaders.


While the group and specifics of the meeting are not going to be mentioned, Sheriff Valenza made a presentation of what is today’s reality. Be vigilant, watchful, and protective. Make plans and be ready to execute the plans of safety.


Sheriff Valenza has been with Houston County Sheriff Department for 38 consecutive years. Beginning as a Corrections Officer at Houston County under then Sheriff A.B. Clark in 1979, he rose through the ranks to Deputy all the way up the ladder to be elected as Sheriff.


Donald Valenza served under Sheriff’s A.B. Clark, Lamar Hadden, Lamar Glover and Andy Hughes. When Hughes resigned to take a job with ALEA the Houston County Republican Executive Committee appointed Donald Valenza, then Chief Deputy As Republican nominee for Sheriff. He was then appointed to fill the vacancy of Sheriff left on Hughes’ resignation.


Donald Valenza was raised in New Orleans Louisiana. He came to Wallace College to play baseball. Fell in love with Dothan - Houston County and stayed. 


During his 38 years with a Houston County Donald Valenza has been involved in some 50 Murder investigations. He is a thinker who remains focused until the case is solved. Valenza is about details and pre-planning.
