On 07/11/2017, Officers of the Marianna Police Department were notified of a shooting. It was learned through statements that Jordan Thompson had opened fire with a 20 gauge shotgun into an occupied vehicle that contained two adults and a four year old child. The shooting occurred at Jennings Field and was prompted over text messages between Thompson and a male occupant in the vehicle.
A Be On the Look Out was then released and the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office was notified due to Thompson living outside the city’s jurisdiction. A short time later Thompson was arrested near his residence and the 20 gauge shotgun was recovered.
Thompson was transported to the Marianna Police Department where he provided a statement admitting to the events that had occurred. Thompson was later taken to JCCF to await first appearance.
The Marianna Police Department would like to thank the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance in this matter.
