On Sunday, March 4, the Alabama State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) responded to a firearm assault in Florala (Covington County) at the request of Florala Police Chief Sonny Bedsole.
At approximately 11:58 a.m., the Florala Police Department received reports of a firearm assault in the parking lot of the Huddle House Restaurant, 1076 3rd St. When officers arrived, they found Tekevious Best, 31, of Spartanburg, S.C., suffering from what is believed to be multiple gunshot wounds. Best died from his injuries while being transported to a Life Flight aircraft.
Phillip Parker, 24, of Mobile fled the scene and traveled to Florida. Parker was identified and taken into custody without incident by the Walton County, Fla., Sheriff’s Office.
A Covington County murder warrant and $750,000 bond has been issued for Parker, who is facing extradition back to Alabama.
