ENTERPRISE, AL - A fleeing shoplifter was apprehended Friday thanks to the quick actions of a good citizen.
Witnesses say the shoplifter ran out of Walmart with a computer worth around four hundred dollars and then jumped into a getaway car.
The getaway vehicle made it a short distance before colliding with Melissa Arias' car at the traffic light on Boll Weevil Circle in front of Walmart.
"I hit her head on at 45 miles per hour, I t-boned the thief. At that moment the person who stole jumped out of the vehicle and she took off running," said Melissa Arias.
Arias called 911 and within minutes Enterprise Police caught the shoplifter who was changing clothes by a nearby dumpster.
She was taken into custody and is now charged with Theft of Property in the 4th Degree. Arias is being thanked for her part in stopping the shoplifter and is expected to be OK.
Law enforcement urges others to stay safe and be alert when getting involved in these kind of situations.
