Silver Dollar Coin Scam

RSNews recently received information about individuals selling counterfeit silver dollar coins here in Houston County.  An individual was approached at a store in Ashford, AL and ask if he'd like to purchase assorted and packaged old silver dollars for $10.00 each. The seller told the buyer they were worth "a lot more money and that he had inherited them from his grandfather". 


The individual purchased several of the coins and immediately took them to a coin dealer to find out the true value of the coins. The real coin dealer told the victim that they were worthless and produced in bulk in another country and used to scam unsuspecting individuals.


The victim was advised to contact the Houston County Sheriff's Office.


Please report these type conartist/counterfeiters to your local law enforcement.
