Single vehicle Accident Lands One in Jail for DUI

On 3/6/2018 at approximately 2:21 pm, Officers with the Marianna Police Department responded to the intersection of Clinton St. and Noland St. to the report of a single vehicle traffic crash. Upon arrival officers located a red Toyota passenger car entangled in a chain linked fence on the east side shoulder of Noland St.
The driver, identified as Dusty Vickery, reported that he was east bound on Clinton Street and failed to make the stop at the intersection. He traveled over Noland St. and collided into the chain linked fence, coming to a stop. While speaking with Vickery, officer’s detected a strong odor of alcohol emitting from his breath. Vickery admitted to the consumption of alcohol prior to the crash. Several opened containers were also located inside the vehicle.
Also located inside the vehicle, was Vickery’s three year old daughter, who had not sustained any injuries during the crash.
Vickery submitted to standard field sobriety exercises. At the conclusion of the exercises it was determined that Vickery was impaired at the time of the traffic crash. Vickery then submitted to a request of a breath alcohol content test for the determination of his breath alcohol content. At the conclusion of that test, it was determined that his breath alcohol content did exceed the legal limit of .08.
Vickery was placed under arrest and turned over to the Jackson County Correctional Facility to await first appearance.
