DOTHAN,AL - The Hawk-Houston Boys and Girls Club is going to start serving afternoon snacks.
The program is going to be free and could expand to as many as 100 children later down the road.
"The snack program is essential because when kids get out of school they're hungry. And for us it helps because we're getting this program through the Leisure Services with the city of Dothan, so it's good nutritional snacks for them. So they enjoy it." says Athla Newman, Executive Director of the Club.
The children do NOT have to be a member of the Boys and Girls Club to receive these snacks.
This program is going to be serving the snacks at two other locations as well.
Andrew Belle Center located at 1270 Lake St, Dothan, AL 36303 and Wiregrass Recreation Center located at 620 6th Ave, Dothan, AL 36301.
The snacks kids might receive could be: Juice, Milk, String Cheese, Carrots, or Celery.
