Houston County, AL: SpectraCare Health Systems, Inc has partnered with local law enforcement to ensure the safe disposal of prescription medicines in our community. Unnecessary medicines in the home create a hazard for our loved ones and can make us a target for theft. Research shows that 70% of people who abuse pain relievers got them from friends and relatives, and 50 Americans die each day from an avoidable prescription drug overdose. SpectraCare hopes to create a community practice of safe disposal, since flushing our medicines can contaminate the environment. The take back events are anonymous, free, and secure.

The first in a series of community take-backs will be in partnership with Chief Garry Hughes in Taylor, Alabama. The event will be Saturday, December 9th, at the Taylor Volunteer Fire Department, 1530 S State Hwy 605, from 10:00am – 2:00pm. For more information please call 800-951-4357
