Please stay weather alert today...this is the information we are receiving from the National Weather Service.
THREAT: Isolated severe thunderstorms possible today, including an isolated tornado. Heavy rain is likely at times, which could lead to isolated flooding.
WHERE: Primarily southeast Alabama, southwest Georgia, and the Florida Panhandle (mainly west of Tallahassee).
WHEN: Through early evening.
POTENTIAL IMPACTS: Wind damage: mainly isolated downed trees and power lines.
Flood damage: mainly low-lying, poor drainage areas that often flood in heavy rain (i.e. urban areas).
BACKGROUND: A band of showers and thunderstorms, located over the Florida Panhandle and southeast Alabama as 9 am CDT (10 am EDT), will move slowly eastward today. The heavy rain rates and slow motion of this system could cause locally heavy rain. Most areas will get 1 to 3 inches of rain today, but isolated amounts up to 6 inches are possible. A few of the stronger thunderstorms could produce winds gusts from 40 to 60 MPH, and perhaps even a brief tornado.
