In the early morning hours of 07/28/2018, deputies responded to the Interstate 10 area to bolo for a stolen diesel pusher motor home. The Sheriff’s Office in Alamogordo New Mexico had requested assistance from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office in locating the vehicle, due to information they had received indicating the vehicle was possibly passing through our county. Further information indicated that there may be passengers in the vehicle uninvolved in the theft and it was unknown if they were being held against their will.
After a short time a vehicle matching the provided description was located in the parking lot of the America’s Best Value Inn, 2086 Hwy 71 South. Information from NM listed a possible suspect of Stephen Mcintyre, but the identity had not been confirmed and no information had been located in the database that matched the date of birth.
The motor home parked at the motel was verified to be the stolen vehicle and during the investigation contact was made with a male subject who was confirmed to have been driving the vehicle. Upon contact the subject identified himself to be Stephen Mcintyre. It was soon determined that the information was invalid and further investigation was completed. A short time later the suspect was positively identified to be Stephen Mccaulley, 32 y/o.
At the conclusion of the investigation, Stephen was placed under arrest and charged with providing false identification to law enforcement while lawfully detained. He was incarcerated in the Jackson County Correctional Facility. Further charges/hold for the motor vehicle theft are pending from Alamogordo NM Sheriff’s Office.
