Suspect Found Dead Following Weekend Montgomery Homicide

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - The Montgomery Police Department says the death of a 56-year-old woman Sunday was a homicide and that the suspect has since been found dead.


Medics and police officers responded to the 2000 block of Queens Hollow Court around 8:45 a.m. Sunday on a call of a deceased person. Upon arrival, they found the body of Ruth Ward, 56.


Ward had been fatally shot, according to investigators. Her son, Seth Ponzer, 33, was developed as a suspect.


Police say after the homicide, Ponzer fled to the Atlanta area where he was found dead Monday.
