Suspicious Person Lands One in Jail

On June 26, 2018 a Deputy with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office responded to the report of a suspicious person who was standing in the middle of Highway 231 north of Campbellton, Florida. When the Deputy arrived the subject was staggering along the roadway and posed an immediate risk to himself. As the Deputy made contact with him the subject identified himself as Victor Weatherington. During the encounter the Deputy gained consent from Weatherington to search his person for weapons for officer safety purposes.
The Deputy found a smoking pipe, which consistent with one used for ingestion of illicit drugs, on Weatherington’s person. As the Deputy attempted to place Weatherington under arrest he began to pull away and tense his arms to avoid apprehension. The Deputy was able to get Weatherington placed into restraints and continued a search of his person, where he located another smoking pipe on Weatherington’s person.
Weatherington was ultimately placed under arrest and transported to the Jackson County Correctional Facility to await first appearance on his charges.
