On January 08, 2019 in the early morning hours, a concerned citizen called the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office in reference to a suspicious vehicle parked in the middle of the roadway of the neighborhood around Merritt’s Mill Road. Upon arrival of a Deputy he was told by a female, identified as Shon Massey, they had broken down and their friends had come to help but did not have a way of jumping the vehicle off. During the incident the Deputy shined his flashlight into the interior of the vehicle and was able to see within plain view a glass smoking pipe, typically used with the use of illicit drugs, partially wrapped in a paper towel.

The Deputy then conducted a probable cause search of the vehicle and found a zippered pouch placed underneath the passenger seat, where the female subject only had been periodically during the time earlier. Inside the zippered pouch, the Deputy located a plastic Ziploc style bag containing suspected Methamphetamine, once field tested returned a presumptive positive result. A silver cylinder container, such as a pill container, was located as well and within was a white substance suspected to be cocaine. A field test was conducted and returned a presumptive positive result as well. The Deputy also located a small amount of Marijuana within the zippered pouch and another container which contained suspected Methamphetamine residue.

The Deputy gained consent from the friends present, to conduct a search of their vehicle due to items in which Massey had placed into their vehicle. After searching the contents of the bags belonging to Massey, the Deputy located what appeared to be two used hypodermic needles. Shon Massey advised, post Miranda, she had been given the hypodermic needles from a friend to hold on to until a different date and had placed them into the bag. Massey denied any knowledge or ownership of the other items found within the vehicle.

Shon Massey was placed under arrest and transported to the Jackson County Correctional Facility to await first appearance on her charges.

Sheriff Lou Roberts III wants to extend his appreciation to the citizens of Jackson County and encourages you to contact the Sheriff’s Office anytime you suspect suspicious activity.

Arrested:
Shon Massey, 45 years of age, Resident of Marianna, Florida
