Swimming lessons save lives! According to the CDC, drownings are a leading cause of death for young children ages 1 to 14, and three children die every day as a result of drowning. In fact, drowning kills more children 1-4 than anything else except birth defects.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention also says that participation in formal swimming lessons can reduce the risk of drowning by as much as 88 percent among young children age 1-4, who are at greatest risk of drowning.
Dothan Leisure Services provides swimming lessons to ages 6 months through adult. A summer schedule of classes is available at www.dothanleisureservices.org.
Registration is currently ongoing at your neighborhood recreation centers, including Andrew Belle, Doug Tew, Walton Park, Wiregrass Park, and Westgate Pools. For more information, please contact us at 334-615-3763.
