DOTHAN:   Thanks to Sandy Schmitz and "Smitty" ( Mike and Sandy's son ) for the 8 years you allowed your husband and father to lead the City of Dothan.


Mike Schmitz is genuine. He loved the City of Dothan and what it has to offer. He was a great ambassador for the City of Dothan, always a positive attitude to go out and win.


A man with an extremely successful group of businesses. He devoted 100% of his attention to the job of Mayor. A job that only pays $ 42,000.00 per year of which he put into an economic development fund and did not receive. That's right, very quietly Mike Schmitz did not draw the salary for Mayor.


Mike Schmitz also furnished his own vehicle. Of note which was better than a City of Dothan vehicle - a Mercedes!!!


But he was at the Mayor's Office every day unless out of town. He was out and about in the community. As a good salesman he followed all leads to bring jobs. Some of those leads struck positive and some of those leads were a no go. But he followed each and every lead.


In sales, the very person you might think will not buy, they do. So all leads are followed. 


Mayor Schmitz tried to meet with all who wanted to meet with him. He tried to attend all functions which he was invited. A very demanding job that he was very good at.


THANKS to Paul Padgett, business partner to Mike Schmitz, who kept the ships rolling in his personal business along with the fantastic staff at Hyundai, Mercedes and Mazda. They are great to do business with and make things happen with customer satisfaction.


THANKS to Mayor Mike for devoting 100% to the City of Dothan to make our city a better place to live.


As you move to Dothan School Board Chairman, we wish you good luck. You just thought you heard complaints as Mayor. When dealing with people's kids...well good luck. But the change from Mayor to School Board Chair confirms your devotion to this city in making things better.


The students, parents, teachers and staff know they have someone who has a heart to make all things better. No hidden agenda, no self gratification, other than making the Dothan City Schools better for the future.
