The City of Dothan Got Their BUTTOCKS Kicked By The Houston County Commission Today

HOUSTON COUNTY verses CITY OF DOTHAN:   HATS OFF to Houston County Sheriff Donald Valenza, Houston County Commission Chairman Mark Culver, Houston County Commissioners Curtis Harvey, Doug Sinquefiled, Jackie Battles and Brandon Shoupe.

Congratulations to Houston County School Supt. David Sewell and members of the Houston County Board of Education.   

You have rolled up your sleeves and getting-her-done in providing armed Houston County Deputy Sheriff’s, certified as a law enforcement officer, with arrest power to protect the most precious resources, our children.

Most politicians talk about it. You have actually not talked about it, but developed a plan and making it work.

If we want to see how NOT TO DO THINGS, we take a quick glance at 126 North Saint Andrews Street in Dothan Alabama.

Dothan Police Chief Steve Parrish presented a plan to soon to be gone Dothan City Manager Mike West. That plan put certified law enforcement officers, with arrest power, in all Dothan City Schools to protect our valuable resources, our children.

ONLY Dothan Commissioner District 4, John Ferguson, has worked on this project. He has been unable to get Dothan City Manager off his buttocks to do anything. So far, and school begins soon, City Manager West has not done anything. West has not presented to the Dothan City Commissioners.

And poor ‘ol John Ferguson has tried and tried to get West off his buttocks to get it done. No luck.

And please, please… I like Mark Saliba, But would someone wake him up and tell him that he is Mayor of Dothan Alabama. That means he is Chief Executive Officer of the City of Dothan. It is up to Mark Saliba to make things move. But someone has not told him that he is the Mayor and CEO.

Mark… YOU ARE THE MAYOR OF THE CITY OF DOTHAN.

But what do you expect?  It took Mike West “most important hire” when John White retired was a Chief of Police. Boy did he mess that up hiring John Powell.

The big dollars we pay Lyle Summack to help Dothan develop a plan. For at least three years a Communications Director was to be hired. West so far has screwed that up. And none hired.

It took Mike West over four years to hire a IT Director. Something that changes hourly, technology. And four years.

APOLOGIES TO THE MEMBERSHIP OF BETHEL BAPTIST CHURCH AND TO THEIR CHURCH MEMBER, TIM STEWART….

When Dothan City Manager Mike West hired Tim Stewart as IT Director of the City of Dothan in 2007, he slammed it to Stewart. West also slammed it to the membership of Bethel Baptist Church.

Tim Stewart and his family lived in Slocomb Alabama. Mike West forced, by contract, Tim Stewart to move to the City Limits of Dothan within 12 months if his hire.

Stewart lived in Slocomb. But he and his family worshiped at Bethel Baptist Church on Cottonwood Road in the city limits of Dothan. In fact, when the church was without a Minister of Music, it was Tim Stewart who stepped up and served his fellow congregation as Interim Minister of Music.

So such a slap to Tim also slapped Bethel Baptist.

Because in 2017 Dothan City Manager Mike West hired as a replacement for Tim Stewart Jack Mason.

Mason had a one page employment agreement. Nothing about moving to the City Limits of Dothan. In fact Jack Mason resides in the State of Florida, Jackson County, and travels to and from Dothan each day. And when he is off, do not try and contact him.

And he pays Jack Mason $ 36,787.20 a year more than he did Tim Stewart.

Houston County showed the City of Dothan Alabama how to roll up your sleeves and make it happen.

Dothan Commissioner John Ferguson and Dothan Police Chief Steve Parrish has tried.

But Mike West does not care about the safety of the children, Mark Saliba has not realized he is CEO, Albert Kirkland has done NOTHING as a Dothan Commissioner but collect a check and choke me!

And the other commissioners, their GPS is the only thing that gets them to the Dothan City Commission Meetings.
