Hey guys I am doing a story on this amazing encounter to pay tribute to Dustin and it will air at 6 pm on WDHN channel 18 if you cannot watch I will post the link on my Facebook page after it airs Casey Watson WDHN around 7 pm
I’m at a loss for words but I will muster some up
I was just sitting at the bar at Longhorns restaurant and a man sitting across from me was talking to the man behind the bar about NFL games. I overheard him say he had lost his grandson so I thought he meant he lost him over a NFL game. So i asked him “ Did you say you lost your grandson? “ And when he answered I was speechless.
His grandson was one of the Green Berets killed in action in Niger last week. I’m sure many of you have heard about the 4 killed in Niger and the Congresswoman from Florida making statements about President Trumps phone call to one of the mothers.
Out of respect to those soldiers and to this man’s grandson I won’t get into my feelings about the Congresswoman’s comments.
I asked him to send me a picture of his grandson and to write down a few things about him so that each of us will know who this fine young man was..(No let me rephrase that)...WHO THIS FINE BRAVE YOUNG MAN IS....that gave his life for you and for me.
The grandfather was in Dothan working an outage at Farley Nuclear.
I told him about the Angel Of Hope Statue and it’s purpose that no child will be forgotten. That includes his grandson that he was very close to. How did I know they were close? You can tell that from when a Grandfather wipes a tear from his eyes thinking I didn’t notice.
These are his words about his grandson
Dustin Wright. US Green Beret Killed in Niger October 4, 2017. Jokester enjoying life, Always ready to help people. Loved his country, being a Beret and defending freedom.
