The Sheriff of Jefferson County - Who Has Gotten Beat - Has Let Jefferson County Be Slaughter County

JEFFERSON COUNTY:     The registered voters of Jefferson County finally got it. The Sheriff of Jefferson County, Mike Hale never got it. 

But the City of Birmingham is "in" Jefferson County, not Jefferson County "in" Birmingham. And the Sheriff, not the Birmingham Chief of Police IS THE CHIEF LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER OF THE COUNTY, which includes Birmingham.

So when the murders are getting out of control, and over half are unsolved, IT IS THE DUTY AND OBLIGATION of the Sheriff to step in and get it under control.

The same goes for all 67 counties in Alabama. The ultimate responsibility is that of the Elected Sheriff of the county when the Municipal Police Chief is a failure. And in Birmingham it is evident that the Municipal Police Chief is a failure.

But the registered voters of the county recognized that Mike Hale was a failure as Sheriff. His focus was bingo and the hell with the men, women and children in Birmingham              ( Jefferson County ) of which were being murdered.

But also, where has Steve Marshall, the Alabama Attorney General been? Not in Birmingham ( Jefferson County ). For the focus of Steve Marshall has been bingo, not the men and women in Birmingham ( Jefferson County ) being slaughtered.

The registered voters of Jefferson County got it. On January 15th a new Sheriff will be in town. Hopefully he will roll up his sleeves and go to work.

We have some small town police chief’s in this area who do not get it. The Sheriff is the ultimate responsible party for the entire county. Those police chief’s have their ego’s in place and their priority out of place. And the Sheriff of the county needs to grow a set and introduce them to the Chief Law Enforcement Officer of the county.

AL.COM CONCERNING OUTRAGEOUS MURDER RATE IN BIRMINGHAM - JEFFFERSON COUNTY

Birmingham ended 2018 with 107 homicides, down from 111 in 2017. 

Still, it was one of the deadliest years in recent Magic City history. Had Birmingham suffered seven more murders before midnight, the city’s homicide total would have reached a 22-year high.

Numbers tell a chilling tale of Birmingham’s struggle with violent crime in 2018.

The city’s west side is the community most plagued by homicide. Nearly 8 percent of the city’s violent deaths were the result of people using deadly force to protect themselves or others in what were ruled justifiable homicides. Retaliation for other acts of violence frequently fueled Birmingham homicides.  

Most of the homicide victims were killed inside homes. Many had prior criminal records. The vast majority were African-American males.

And, as a new year begins, more than half of Birmingham’s 2018 homicides remain unsolved.
