On January 8th, 2018 the Marianna Police Department received information of a threatening photograph that contained guns and a message directed to students at Marianna High School.
An investigation into the photograph revealed that a 10th Grade student, Makayla Curry, posted the photograph in a Snapchat message on a group chat that contained many students from Marianna High School. The photograph was found to contain air soft guns, and not actual firearms.
It was learned that this photograph was created with the intent of school being cancelled. At the conclusion of this investigation, Curry was arrested and charged with Written Threats to Kill or Do Bodily Injury.
