On October 20, 2017, a Deputy with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office was on patrol in the area of Americus Road in Grand Ridge and observed a Honda sedan black in color stopped in the middle of the roadway impeding the flow of traffic. The Deputy got behind the vehicle and recognized it from an earlier call where a vehicle was being reported stolen out of Calhoun County, Florida. Upon sight of the Deputy and his marked patrol vehicle the vehicle immediately accelerated rapidly in a reckless manner.

The Deputy gave chase after the vehicle at speeds in excess of 70 miles per hour. The vehicle failed to stop for a traffic control device at the intersection of Americus Road and Lawrence Road as it turned north. The vehicle continued to travel at speeds in excess of 80 miles per hour with a wanton disregard for the safety of other motorist traveling on the roadway. The vehicle failed to stop for a traffic control device at the intersection of Lawrence Road and Blue Springs Road as it began traveling east. While traveling on Blue Springs Road another motorist traveling west had to take evasive action to avoid being struck by the fleeing vehicle.

The Deputy observed all three occupants of the vehicle to be making furtive movements inside the vehicle in what appeared to be an attempt to conceal items within the vehicle. The vehicle made an abrupt “sliding” stop on the side of the roadway on Blue Springs Road. The Deputy exited his patrol vehicle as a passenger, later identified as Justin Creamer, exited and began to flee on foot before turning around towards the Deputy with his hands in his pants. Justin Creamer finally obeyed the lawful order from the Deputy to remove his hands and get on the ground. The Deputy continued conducting a high risk traffic stop and ordered the other occupants of the vehicle, later identified as Elisha Creamer and Wesley Ranew, who complied.  The three subjects were then detained.

When Deputies approached the vehicle they smelled a strong odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle. A probable cause search of the vehicle revealed the following: a plastic container which contained a crystallized substance which field tested presumptive positive for Methamphetamine, a clear baggie containing a marijuana, plastic baggies with residue of Methamphetamine and marijuana. A cigarette pack placed on the rear of the vehicle by Elisha Creamer contained the following: a cut straw with residue identified as Methamphetamine, a plastic baggie with a crystallized substance which did field test presumptive positive for Methamphetamine.

During the investigation, it was learned the vehicle had indeed been stolen earlier and reported to the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office. An NCIC/FCIC check of the subjects returned an active warrant for Wesley Ranew for Violation of Drug Offender Probation. It was also learned Justin Creamer was on active State Probation. All three subjects were arrested and transported to the Jackson County Correctional Facility to await first appearance on their charges.
