Just wanted to let the City of Columbia residents know that I have spoken with our State Emergency Management Director, Brian Hastings about the flooding issues you face when we get lots of rainfall and water is released upstream on you from Georgia. He is aware and is in contact with The State of Georgia EMA as well as other agencies about this situation. We both are standing up for Columbia and it’s citizens to try to avoid unnecessary flooding problems complicated by the release of that upstream water. I appreciate Houston County EMA Director Chris Judah and his commitment to keep everyone informed and safe. He is in constant contact with all agencies to help ensure all our safety . Thanks to Mayor Rhonda Freeman for her concern and hard work to help protect the people she loves and serves She and I have been on the phone in discussions this week in advance of this possible weather event making plans and covering all bases to make sure all resources are ready if needed. Thanks to all who are watching out for the people of Columbia and their river situation. Love Columbia!
