PIKE COUNTY, AL (WSFA) - The city of Troy in south Alabama was struck by an apparent tornado Sunday morning, causing damage but no known serious injuries. The same storm system moved earlier across the South, claiming the lives of at least three people in Texas and Mississippi.
The National Weather Service in Birmingham issued a tornado warning for Pike County at 7:18 a.m. for a radar confirmed tornado.
Troy Mayor Jason Reeves said there are no reports of injuries at this time. The city has reports of multiple outages around town and its crews will assess damage as soon as the weather allows. Areas without power include Downtown, Butter & Egg Rd, Hunters Mountain, and parts of Country Club/Prospect Ridge.
