Traffic Crash with Injuries Lands One in Jail

On November 15, 2017, Officers with the Marianna Police Department responded with Marianna Fire Department and Jackson County EMS units to a traffic crash with injuries on South Jefferson St.
An investigation revealed that a 2001 Chevrolet 4 door operated by Roxanne Ross of Greenwood and a 2014 Ford 4 door operated by Cassandra Branton of Altha were traveling south on Jefferson Street and were stopped in traffic behind a stopped school bus.
A 2002 white Mazda 4 door operated by Jeffrey Thomas of Marianna was traveling south on Jefferson St. Thomas failed to notice the other vehicles stopped in the highway, and the Mazda collided with the Chevrolet pushing it forward into the rear of the Ford. North and South Bound traffic was blocked for approximately 1 hour as a result of the crash.
Several persons involved were transported to the Jackson Hospital with minor injuries.
The investigation is ongoing.
