Traffic Stop Lands Ohio Man in Jail on Drug Charges

On March 05, 2018 a Deputy Sheriff with the Uniform Patrol Division was on patrol in the area of Magnolia Road in Marianna, Florida. While on patrol, the Deputy observed a traffic violation and conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle. Upon the Deputy making contact with the driver of the vehicle, identified as Patrick Themar, he smelled a strong odor of marijuana emitting from the interior of the vehicle.
A probable cause search of the vehicle from the odor of marijuana revealed numerous items of drug paraphernalia. Throughout the vehicle a quantity of marijuana was recovered from different locations within. In the driver's compartment approximately 11.4 grams of crystal methamphetamine or “ICE” was recovered. The substance was field tested which returned favorable results of the substance being methamphetamine. Along with the methamphetamine, several unused sealed “baggies” were located which is conducive with the sell and distribution of illicit narcotics.
During the course of the traffic stop, it was discovered that Themar's driver's license was suspended indefiintely. The Jackson County Sheriff's Office Communications Center confirmed the aforementioned.
At the conclusion of the traffic stop, Patrick Themar was placed under arrest and transported to the Jackson County Correctional Facility to await first appearance.
