Traffic Stop Lands One in Jail in Marianna

On January 8th, 2019 at 12:02am, the Marianna Police Department attempted to conduct a traffic stop on Orange Street on a blue in color, Ford passenger vehicle, for a faulty equipment infraction. Upon officers activating the emergency lights, the vehicle failed to stop. The vehicle continued through the intersection of Orange Street and Old Cottondale Road, continuing on Old Cottondale Road.
Officers activated their siren and the vehicle began to flee. The vehicle then made an abrupt right turn onto Harley Drive. The vehicle continued on Harley Drive and then made a right turn onto Village Court.
At this time, the driver exited the vehicle and ran on foot while the vehicle was still in motion. The vehicle continued into the yard of a nearby residence. Officers engaged in a foot pursuit with the suspect. Officers were able to apprehend the suspect and identified him as Timothy Myrick, of Marianna, FL.
During a search of Myrick’s person, officers located a plastic bag that was found to contain approximately 52 grams of methamphetamine. Officer also located a digital scale which is consistent with the sale of illegal narcotics.
Myrick was arrested and charged with Fleeing and Attempting to Elude and Trafficking in Methamphetamine. Myrick was transported to the Jackson County Correctional Facility to await first appearance.
