Traffic Stop Lands One in Jail on Drug Charges

On February 15, 2018 a Deputy, on routine patrol traveling south on Highway 231, observed a white in color Nissan pickup truck with intermittent working brake lights while stopped at a traffic control device at Highway 90. The Deputy activated his emergency lighting on his marked patrol vehicle to initiate a traffic stop.
After making contact with the driver of the vehicle, identified as Teresa Odom, consent was obtained to search the vehicle and its contents therein. The Deputy located a silver spoon with white residue. A field test was conducted on the white residue which field tested presumptive positive for Methamphetamine. In the purse belonging to Odom was a small plastic baggie; which did contain a crystallized substance. The crystallized substance was subsequently field tested returning a presumptive positive result for Methamphetamine.
Teresa Odom was transported to the Jackson County Correctional Facility to await first appearance on her charges.
