On 6-16-18 at approximately 12:45 p.m. the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a concerned citizen regarding an individual that was believed to be driving impaired on Hwy 71 South.
Driving patterns of the subject were observed by a member of the Uniform Patrol Division of the Sheriff’s Office as the vehicle travelled north on Hwy 71. A traffic stop was affected after he was observed speeding and breaking erratically.
A warrants check revealed an active warrant out of Sarasota County. After extradition was confirmed, the driver, Leante Komatsu, was placed under arrest.
A tow truck was summoned and an inventory search of the vehicle was conducted. During that search deputies discovered approximately 11 grams of methamphetamines (Ice) along with two digital scales and a hypodermic needle, all of which contained drug residue.
Komatsu was lodged in the Jackson County Correctional facility to await first appearance. Once he has faced charges locally, he will be extradited to Sarasota County.
