On the evening of August 12, 2018 a Deputy with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office conducted a probable cause traffic stop on a vehicle for the violation of a traffic control device in the area of Caledonia Street and Jackson Street. While making contact with the occupants of the vehicle the driver, later identified as Ronald Grant Jr., was asked to step out of the vehicle to speak with the Deputy.
While exiting the vehicle, a container containing a white substance fell from Grant Jr.’s pocket. The container was immediately recognized by the Deputy as one used with the transportation of illicit narcotics. Grant Jr. was detained at this time. After examining the contents of the container, the Deputy located several cotton swabs which were saturated in a clear liquid which was suspected to be liquid methampethamine based on the Deputy’s training and experience. The substance was field tested and yielded a presumptive positive result for methampethamine.
Post Miranda, Grant Jr. did admit the contents of the container were to be suspected liquid methamphetamine and had forgotten the container was on his person. Grant Jr. was placed under arrest and transported to the Jackson County Correctional Facility to await first appearance on his charges.
Arrested:
Ronald Eudon Grant Jr., 55 years of age, Resident of Marianna, Florida.
Charges:
Possession of Methamphetamine
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
