Traffic Stop Lands One in Jail on Drug Charges

On February 20, 2019, Officers with the Marianna Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a 2012 Chevrolet Impala operated by Charles Alvin Chaney of Grand Ridge, for a moving traffic violation.
After making contact with the driver, Officers detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from within the vehicle. During a probable cause search of the vehicle, Officers located two baggies containing cocaine and two Ecstasy Pills.
Chaney was charged with possession of Cocaine and possession of Ecstasy. He was transported to the Jackson County Correction Facility to await first appearance.
