On 06/20/2018 JCSO deputies conducted a traffic stop on Pooser road west of Hwy 73 south, for a traffic infraction. During the traffic stop a passenger was known to deputies to be Maurice Bennett Jr. Maurice denied his identity and continually provided a false name to deputies.
Deputies were able to confirm the passenger’s identity to be Maurice Bennett Jr., and determined that he had an outstanding warrant from Alabama. Upon attempting to take Maurice into custody on the active warrant, Maurice resisted the deputies.
After gaining control of Maurice, he was placed under arrest for the warrant. Maurice was also charged with obstruction by disguise (false information), resisting an officer without violence and violation of probation. Maurice was incarcerated in the Jackson County Correctional facility.
