Traffic Stop Lands Two in Jail in Marianna

On April 26th, 2017 at approximately 3:08pm, officers with the Marianna Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a white in color, Mercury, passenger vehicle, for the traffic offense of the driver not wearing a safety belt. Upon conducting the traffic stop on Madison Street and Lafayette Street, a rear passenger in the vehicle, identified as Derek Granberry, threw something out the window of the vehicle. The substance was scattered throughout the ground. It was determined that the substance was crack cocaine.
Granberry was removed from the vehicle and a subsequent search of his person was conducted. Officers also located marijuana and digital scales on Granberry. Granberry was arrested for the above mentioned offenses.
The driver of the vehicle, Jarvis Early, was found not to have a valid driver’s license. Early was arrested and a subsequent search revealed Early was in possession of a small amount of Marijuana. Both subjects were transported to the Jackson County Correctional Facility to await first appearance.
