Tropical Storm Don has formed east of the Windward Island, with watches and warnings issued for portions of that region, the National Hurricane Center reports
The storm formed east of the Windward Islands, and watches and warnings have been issued for portions of the Windward Islands.
At 5 p.m. ET, the storm was located about 485 miles east-southeast of Barbados and about 595 miles east of Trinidad, with maximum sustained winds of 40 mph.
The government of Barbados has issued a Tropical Storm Watch for Barbados and for St. Vincent and the Grenadines. The government of and St. Lucia has also issued a Tropical Storm Watch.
A Tropical Storm Watch means that tropical storm conditions are possible within the watch area, in this case, the next 24 to 36 hours.
