TUMBLETON - HENRY COUNTY:   A TUMBLETON - Henry County icon has passed away. For those of you who travel Henry County 99 like going to the lake, the service center that sits in the forks of the road, Shelley Garage. Mr. Ronnie Shelley has passed away. 


A lot of the world's problems have been solved in that shop. A stop for many in Henry County to get work done but also to talk and fellowship.



TUMBLETON COMMUNITY. . .Ronny Shelley, a resident of the Tumbleton Community of Henry County, died Saturday, October 14, 2017, at his home. He was 71.


 


            Funeral Services will be held at 11:30 A.M. Thursday, October 19, 2017, in the New Zion Free Will Baptist Church with Reverend Joey Pettis officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:30 A.M. Thursday in the church sanctuary. Holman-Headland Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. 


 


            In lieu of food and flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the New Zion Free Will Baptist Church, c/o David Teat, 10033 County Road 47, Shorterville, AL 36373 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Wiregrass Area United Way Food Bank, 382 Twitchell Road, Dothan, AL 36303.


 


            Ronny Shelley was a lifelong resident of the Tumbleton Community, son of the late Adie Shelley and Cora Stephenson Shelley. He was a graduate of Headland High School and attended Auburn University. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War era. Ronny was self-employed as a co-owner and operator of Shelley’s Garage in Tumbleton. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Lou Shelley, and sisters-in-law, Rose Shelley and Miriam Shelley.


 


            Surviving relatives include a sister, Katie Shelley, Farmers Branch, Texas; five brothers, Bob Shelley, Oneal Shelley (Delane), Tom Shelley, all of the Tumbleton Community; Carl B. Shelley (Sue), Houston, Texas; and Pete Shelley (May), Tumbleton Community; several nieces and nephews; a special friend T. Larry Smith, Tumbleton Community.
