HOUSTON COUNTY: The UNPAID PROFESSIONAL EMS Services In Houston County are United, Standing together to make HOUSTON COUNTY STRONG.

During Hurricane Michael the modular ambulance of Cottonwood Ambulance and Rescue was totaled. The unpaid professionals were responding to a medical emergency where a 79 year old man fell in a storm shelter receiving head injuries.

Cottonwood Ambulance and Rescue responded. A vehicle made it around a downed tree. The ambulance attempted but the ground sit the ambulance to the chassis.

Crews with chain saws had to cut into the injured which took about an hour and a half to get emergency crews to the injured.

The body shop totaled the ambulance. Insurance coverage will pay $ 35,000.00.

This past weekend the second ambulance, only other ambulance tore up. So no Cottonwood Ambulance and Rescue unit was on duty. Other EMS had our backs.

COTTONWOOD BALL GAME

The Cottonwood Football Field was victim to Hurricane Michael. The game was played at Rehobeth.

Cottonwood Rescue donates their time to support the community and works the football games for free.

Wicksburg Fire - Rescue Chief Wanda Andress donated one of Wicksburg’s three ambulances to help Cottonwood Ambulance and Rescue. While Cottonwood’s primary ambulance was at the game a second Cottonwood crew was in Cottonwood working driving a Wicksburg Ambulance.

During the game Cottonwood Ambulance and Rescue had to transport a player to Flowers Hospital. But that left the game at a standstill until another ambulance could arrive. Rehobeth Rescue responded to the stadium and stood by in order to allow Cottonwood to complete that game.

While all of this was ongoing the ambulance in Cottonwood ( Wicksburg Ambulance on loan to Cottonwood ) had a medical emergency in Cottonwood.

SATURDAY - TAYLOR MADE FESTIVAL

At Saturday’s TAYLOR MADE FESTIVAL Cottonwood Ambulance and Rescue will be on stand by as EMS PROVIDER for the event. At the request of Taylor Mayor Billy Snell Cottonwood Rescue will donate their time to help Taylor have a successful event.

Again Wicksburg Fire-Rescue will loan to Cottonwood Ambulance and Rescue a ambulance to cover Cottonwood. The other ambulance will stand by at Taylor Made Festival.
