On Saturday, April 29th, WRC’s Assured Data Destruction, the Alabama Cooperative Extension System, and Discovery Recycling will offer residents the opportunity to have their unused outdated electronics (there will be a $10.00 disposal fee for glass-screen TVs and computer monitors), paper records and data storage materials shredded and recycled during a FREE Community Recycling Event. Drop off your items to be recycled or shredded at the Houston County Farm Center Parking Lot from 8:00-11:00 a.m. This free event aims to raise public awareness of the need to securely destroy confidential material in order to prevent identify theft and fraud, as well as to encourage people to recycle their electronics safely. The drop-off event is free and open to the public. Assured Data Destruction is AAA NAID (National Association for Information Destruction), the highest certification available for the secure document destruction business.  For additional information and for a list of accepted items, please contact Cynthia Green at WRC’s Assured Data Destruction at 334.792.0022, Ext. 308, email [email protected] or Phillip Carter at the Houston County Extension Office at 334 794-4108 or email [email protected].
