UPDATED @ 10:26 PM w Pics 9:01 PM. Suspect In Dale County Makes Threats of Suicide By Cops

DALE COUNTY:     About 8:30 this evening Ozark - Dale County 911 dispatched Dale County Sheriff Deputies to Gritney Road where a subject was threatening suicide by cops.

"Suicide By Cops" is where a person places himself or herself in a situation with law enforcement which requires a officer to be forced to use deadly physical force.

Ozark - Dale County 911 reported to units responding the subject was armed with a 30 - 06 rifle and handgun(s).

A Dale County Sheriff Deputy got behind the suspect. The suspect was driving 50 MPH or so and running stop signs. The subject crossed into Houston County and on Hilltop Road going towards Geneva County.

Responding to assist the Dale County Deputy were multipe law enforcement officers, to include Houston County, Alabama State Troopers, Geneva County Sheriff Deputies and other officers.

Just inside Geneva County on County Road 41 and County Road 57 the Dale County Sheriff Deputy got into a position and pitted the suspect putting him into the ditch. The deputy(s) were able to detain the subject without the use of any deadly physical force.

A ambulance has been called to the scene to assist the officers in the treatment of the suspect.

NOTE:    There is no reason for anyone to commit suicide. It is the chicken way out. There are to many people fighting to live because of disease for someone to want to take their own life. If you ever start thinking that way REACH OUT for help. Do not be ashamed to ask or seek help.

Also the fact of "suicide by cop". Officers do not put the badge on to take someone's life. Never place a officer in a situation where they have to make the quick and swift decision of using deadly physical force. It is a decision that is never taken lightly by an officer and never one they want to make.
