UPDATED @ 10:50 PM. Two People Walk into a Dothan Hospital with Gunshot Wounds

HOUSTON COUNTY: This evening two people are reported to have walked into Flower Hospital with what was reported as apparent gunshot wounds that are not believed to be life threatening. Reports are the incident happened on Dam Road in Columbia near the lock and Dam.


Houston County Sheriff's Investigators are enroute to the hospital wile others are heading to Dam Road.


No other information is available at this time.

The original report of two persons has been changed to one person. The initial reports were two persons accidentally shot.


When Sheriff Donald Valenza was notified of that he personally called “in service” and went to the Emergency Department. Two persons “accidentally” shot was not adding up to Sheriff Valenza.


As details developed one person was shot. The Patrol Supervisor informed Sheriff Valenza that all was adding up to an accidental shooting.


Sheriff Donald Valenza and Patrtol Captain Bill Rafferty continued to the hospital but so far the information presented does confirm an accidental shooting. The injuries do not appear to be life threatening.

Two victims were shot. A grandfather and a grandson. The shooting occurred on Power Dam Road at Columbia.


It was a small caliber pistol. When passed from one to the other the hammer was cocked back. The grandfather went to take it to prevent from firing, but it fired. The bullet struck the fatty part of the hand.


Some pellets struck the grandson.


The injuries were minor. Houston County Sheriff Donald Valenza said it was clearly accidental.
