DOTHAN:    Community Health Systems of Nashville Tennessee, the parent company of Flowers Hospital in Dothan, reports are they are in deep trouble as a corporation.

On Monday one of the corporate suits flew in from Nashville Tennessee and did Dothan Alabama a disservice. The Nashville Tennessee corporate suits removed Suzanne Woods as the Chief Executive Officer of Flowers Hospital.

The corporate suit did offer Suzanne Woods a new position at another local hospital. At this time we do not know if Woods will take this position.

Several weeks ago the corporate suits in Nashville called to Flowers Hospital in Dothan with orders to terminate employees. UNOFFICIALLY the information was 15 actual people lost their jobs. But as many as 50 or more positions that were vacant will remain vacant.

The medical community is rapidly changing. Some of the issues facing the hospitals is Alabama's refusal to participate in the Medicaid expansion and reimbursement rates.

This issue in Dothan and in Alabama needs immediate attention. And the people of this state need to constantly - non stop - be calling United States Representative Martha Roby, U. S. Senator Luther Strange, U. S. Senator Richard Shelby, and all other federal officials.

The calls need to continue to Alabama Governor Kay Ivey and members of the Alabama Legislature. What Governor Ivey needs to do is to support the medicaid expansion, the one former Alabama Governor Robert Bentley refused to sign.

Stay tuned - developments are rapid from both Flowers Hospital and SAMC.

UPDATED @ 2:20 PM

The Nashville TN Corporate suits moved Heath Phillips from Mwdical Center Enterprise to Flowers Hospital in Dothan. The suits moved Suzanne Woods as CEO of Medical Center Enterprise.

Suzanne Woods was a terrific CEO and did a great job at Flowers. Dothan's loss is Enterprise's gain.
