DOTHAN: Dothan 911 dispatched a commercial burglary in progress at Wells Fargo Bank on Cottonwood Road and South Foster Street.
Dothan 911 Center did an OUTSTANDING JOB in obtaining a suspect vehicle and license plate number.
Within minutes ( or seconds ) of dispatch Dothan Police Patrol Sgt. Maurice Eggleston was behind the suspect vehicle from Main and Oates, traveling west on Main. The suspect vehicle then turned north on Bell Street.
When Sgt. Eggleston activated his blue lights at Burdeshaw Street and North Bell the passenger fled and the driver remained. Sgt. Eggleston ( boy did that guy pick the wrong officer to run on ) gave foot chase. And he apprehended the suspect. The driver remained with the vehicle.
Multiple Dothan Police and Houston County Sheriff Deputies were on the scene.
Dothan Police Assistant Criminal Investigation Commander Sgt. Jason Adkins was on the scene. Sgt. Adkins called for a crime scene investigator.
Dothan Police units are on the scene of the bank attempting to determine what has actually taken place.
UPDATED @ 5:00 PM..
Police have changed the call to robbery not a burglary. The suspect will be charged accordingly.
