DOTHAN: 4:42 PM. Dothan 911 dispatched Dothan Fire to Pizza Hut South at 4:16 PM. At the time of the call smoke was coming from the vents.
Multiple Dothan Fire Engines Rolled to the scene, Engine 1 ( Central ), Engine 4 ( Southside ), Engine 2 ( Lakewood ), Engine 5 ( Eastside ), Ladder Truck from Central, Ambulance, Rehab truck and Fire Marshall.
Dothan Police is also on the scene.
At 4:46 PM Dothan Fire were still on “offensive made”, meaning working to determine the origin of the smoke. There are no actual flames visible but smoke visible.
Dothan Fire ladddered and went onto the roof checking the air units. There is smoke from one air unit. There was a master circuit that had tripped.
The w&s smoke visible from the eaves of the building on the back corner.
At 4:48 PM fire hose lines have been laid into the fire trucks but not charged. That means they have not turned the water from the fire hydrant on and charged the fire hoses but have them laid from the hyrdrant to the truck.
In essence, smoke and smell present and attempting to locate source but no actual flames.

Dothan Fire have been on the scene for 50 minutes. They are still in offensive mode investigating. Still have some smoke and no flames. Battalion Chief Keith Gassiter is in charge of the scene and reports Dothan Fire is still in offensive mode on this scene.

At 5:25 PM Dothan Fire Battalion Chief Keith Gassiter reported scene was “ under control “. The smoke was in the HVAC unit. Power has been cut.
The Alabama Department of Public Health have been notified which is stand operating procedure when a fire or reported fire occurs at a food establishment.
