HOUSTON COUNTY: At 1:14 PM... Multiple Fire units from Lucy, Gordon, Pansy, Cottonwood and Lovetown responded to a report of a structure fire at 1086 St. John's Road.
The first unit on scene advised smoke and flames visible. A request for more man power was issued and the volunteer's responded. Members of Dothan Houston County EMA also responded to help with the fire. Red Cross was called to help the occupants.
Firmean from Hodgesville and Rehobeth also responded to the scene to assist.
Ashford Rescue and Cottonwood Rescue responded to help at the fire and to take care of the fireman in this heat. Several firefighters were treated for heat related issues and two were transported to the hospital for treatment. The fireman were transported to SAMC by Ashford Rescue.
A tanker from Malone was requested to help with water problems due to the nearest hydrant being in Gordon.
All firefighters work great together and took care of each other.
The temperature was 97 degrees as fireman fought the fire.
