DALE COUNTY:        3:25PM    Something happened at T J Max earlier that caused a BOLO to be issued for suspects.

That something, first reported, was a Armed Robbery. Descriptions of suspects and suspect vehicle were issued.

A Dale County law enforcement officer, Newton or Midland City, got behind the suspect vehicle. The vehicle was north bound on Hwy. 231 at County Road 18.

ALEA-Troopers, Ozark Police and Dale County Sheriff Department got into position and the aircraft placed on stand by.

The Newton Police Officer activated his emergency lights and the suspect vehicle activated his left foot on the had pedal. And it was on...

The vehicle traveled north to Highway 123, then south on Highway 123 towards Newton. At Highway 123 and Dale County 18 the suspects wrecked. Some suspects were apprehended and some ran on foot.

Houston County Sheriff Deputies K-9 were deployed. The aircraft was put in the air.

At the time of the call it was dispatched as a Strong Arm Robbery and the suspect vehicle was northbound on Highway 231. So Dothan passed that information on to Dale County Agencies.

As the Dale County unit had come up behind the suspect vehicle and the chase started the Dothan Police Officer was in T J Max getting information. As the information developed it turns out the call was not a Strong Arm Robbery but extremely disorderly persons.

During the chase the suspect vehicle hit the Newton Police Car.

So while the Dothan call is different, there is a reason the suspect hit the gas pedal as the blue lights were activated rather than the brake.

Officers continue to investigate.

UPDATED @ 5:13 PM

Multiple law enforcement agencies are on Highway 123 just north of Dale County Road 18 searching for suspect(s) from the vehicle chased.

UNDERSTAND - it is not the person "under" the blue lights that make the decision for a chase it is the person "in front of " the blue lights that makes the decision not to stop.

Houston County Sheriff K-9's are on the ground tracking the suspect. Dale County Sheriff helicopter is in the air.

When the chase ended Dale County Sheriff Wally Olson requested Houston County Sheriff to deploy the K-9 for search on the ground.

On the scene Ozark Police Chief Marlos Walker, Dale County Sheriff Chief Deputy Mason Bynum. ALEA-Troopers, Newton Police, Ozark EMS and Houston County are on the scene.

UPDATED @ 18:08 PM

Dale County Units and other agency units on scene in Dale County have suspect in custody.

UPDATED @ 8:05 PM

Newton Police Chief Eric Duhaime wanted to thank all officers and agencies involved today. It was a tremendous display of all officers working together for a successful operation.

There are multiple charges against the defendants now.

Chief Duhaime, with assistance of other agencies, are investigating these individuals and other possible criminal activity they might be responsible for.

Newton has a professional Police Chief with Eric Duhaime. Have known him for decades. He is a honest, professional and dedicated officer.
