DOTHAN:     4:39 PM    Dothan 911 dispatched Police Officers to 311 North Alice Street, the old Moody Building, to reports of a robbery and an assault.

Dothan Police Officer Blake McCallister was the first officer on the scene. A suspect and vehicle description was obtained and broadcast for officers to look for the suspect.

Dothan Police called for Dothan Fire to respond and treat the victim.

At this time based on radio traffic were are not sure if (1) theft with an assault, or (2) a robbery with an assault, or (3) a auto theft and a assault. What we are sure of there is an assault and one of the three occurred.

Dothan Police Officer McCallister and other officers are working on accurate details of the offense.

Reports are the suspect is possibly armed with a handgun.

The call on North Alice was an armed robbery, assault and auto theft. A Hyundai ( I think ) was the vehicle stolen.

That vehicle was later wrecked and another vehicle stolen. Incidents have occurred on Fairfield Drive and Holiday Inn Express with the same suspect description on both incidents. There was an attempted kidnapping in the auto thefts.

Dothan Police Patrol Division and Criminal Investigation Division are still working on all of the incidents attempting to put the entire puzzle together.

Dothan Police intercepted the suspect at North Range and Ross Clark Circle. The officer advised the suspect vehicle was traveling about 90 MPH. The officer was a distance behind the suspect vehicle.

As the suspect entered Webb Road and Ross Clark Circle the suspect, who was southbound on Ross Clark Circle, turned left and appeared to attempt to go back north on the circle. The officer made his turn and the suspect appeared to make a U-turn and begin traveling south in the north bound lane. The officer had to get turned around and the suspect was a ways ahead of the officer traveling on the wrong side of the circle.

The Dothan Police Officer was on the correct side of the circle a distance behind the suspect. The officer lost sight of the suspect vehicle around Perdue Farms and as he crossed the bridge within seconds the crash had occurred and the suspect fled on foot.

The Dothan Police Officer jumped from his vehicle, siren still going, and gave chase on foot of the suspect. The officer caught the suspect and at gun point ordered the suspect to the ground. At that time multiple Dothan Police and Houston County Sheriff Deputies were arriving and assisted the officer and went to the wreck.

The suspect was taken into custody.

One vehicle who appeared to go to the right to avoid a head on collision with the suspect vehicle, the suspect then struck that vehicle directly in the driver's door. Dothan Police, Dothan Fire, and Pilcher Ambulance attempted CPR on the victim but  he was deceased.

One person in another vehicle was transported to the hospital.

The suspect was on a stolen vehicle which was totaled. And I think two more vehicles were involved other than the stolen vehicle.

The suspect is Jeremy Jermaine Jones. He is a suspect in several robberies and auto thefts today. There are multiple crime scenes, four or five, around Dothan and the crash scene.

The Dothan Police Officer could not do one thing about the suspect on the wrong side of the road. The Dothan Police Officer was a distance behind the suspect vehicle and not near the suspect as he traveled on the wrong side of the road. The officer did all humanly possible in this incident and he had zero options.

Dothan Police are investigating the accident. The Dothan Police CRASH TEAM was called to work the accident scene. Multiple Dothan Criminal Investigators and Crime Scene Investigators are working several locations across the city that Jones appeared to be responsible for.

UNCONFIRMED but Jones will probably be facing Capital Murder charges in the accident, along with robbery charges, assault charges, motor vehicle theft charges, reckless endangerment charges, and other charges.

The innocent person killed by the suspect has not been identified yet.

The male victim has been identified as 63 year old Paul Roberts of Dothan. A press Conference will be held this morning and we will live stream it.
